Alright ladies, I’m living for this perfect little black dress from Loft, and today I’m sharing my favorite tips to help you all can prepare for a fun and fancy weekend. I bought this dress back in February, so this particular style isn’t available anymore; however, I’m sharing details about this particular dress because it has some very universally flattering elements that would complement so many occasions, climates, and most importantly, body styles. Once you realize what to look for, you’ll be able to find your perfect LBD!
As you can see, this dress has a “barely there” belt, which adds layer and interest to the front of the dress, while allowing anyone to synch it in a way that flatters their body style the most. Additionally, the slight flutter of the bottom hem flares out just enough to give you that fun, flirty look as opposed to a rigid and “serious” work-week style.
My favorite element of the dress is the flutter sleeves – which aren’t actually sleeves at all. Secret’s out: I’m very self-conscious about my shoulders/arms, so I feel a little uncomfortable in sleeveless dresses. The protruding flutter, though, makes my shoulders appear very high, which makes my posture appear to be (way) better than it actually is, and here’s another secret: no matter what you’re wearing, great posture can make or break an outfit, because posture = confidence, and confidence = a beautiful look. My second favorite part of this dress is the length. The scoop neck doesn’t reveal too much up top, so the above-the-knee length shows off those legs, honey!
As for accessories, I like to keep it simple when styled a LBD. Here, I grabbed my rose gold dainty necklace, my rose gold Kendra Scott cuff bracelet and ring, and a set of beautiful jeweled earrings to give the look some color. Pairing those pieces with a your-lips-but-better lippie, and you can’t go wrong!
As for shoes, I’m wearing my staple black Sam Edelman heels, but I’m sharing a pro-heel-wearing tip here: get heel caps. You can find them in any color/size to match your particular shoes, but you guys, these are a game changer. These caps allow you to maintain your stiletto regime, but make it so much easier to dance the night away in shoes that would otherwise be killing you – or in my case, slipping and landing on the floor. The bottom of the caps make your heel wider, so you can cover more ground space (which is why so many people have been preferring wedges to heels for so long, until now.) I got these from Amazon.
I hope you guys have a wonderful weekend, and I hope that these tips help you to find the perfect LBD for your next formal event (or a saucy date night) so that you can look and feel your best.
